‘The Speak Out Play Readings have proved to be a valuable teaching resource in our school.
They are simple and easy to organise and the length of each play is just right, as our timetables become increasingly busy.
The fact that the parts are differentiated for you means that the children can enjoy these plays in mixed ability groupings as well as in their reading groups.’

We purchased this resource to help our EAL pupils to make speedy progress in their acquisition of English, both written and spoken. We like having the CD and find this very useful. The children enjoy reading parts in a play and like the comic characters in some. We use the resource from time to time in our Induction Class as a small group activity – we divide into two groups. It helps to improve confidence in speaking aloud.

The plays are clearly set out, colourful and fun. The children really enjoy them and the subject content is good. The images on each page help all levels to access the script. Also, the children like the subjects and the humour.
We are using the resource with groups of 5-6 children and individuals. We have seen success in children who do not like reading aloud, as play reading gives them more confidence.
