Shared reading and writing for F-Y2 (P1-3)

Poster for "I Can!" (1 of 8 posters for Emergent A)

Contents:

• there are 5 packs suitable for Foundation - Year 2 (P1-3) but they are flexible enough to use in other years
• each pack contains 8 posters – 6 poem posters and 2 factual posters
• Lesson Plans and Activity Sheet for each poster that meet your currciulum needs.

The Poem Posters:

• enable teachers to model writing conventions and skills
• help to create an environment in which children are “immersed in print”
• provide a rich source of traditional and contemporary literature
• extend children’s sight word and topic vocabulary
• provide contexts for exploring rhyme
• provide many teaching opportunities for developing phonic skills

The Factual Posters:

• help generate a wealth of ideas for writing
• help provide contexts for exploring the main ideas of the title
• provide a springboard for developing listening and speaking skills and engaging children in inquiry, reflection, description and explanation

Each poster offers excellent discussion points with the whole class:

• talk about the things the children can do
• ask the children to identify any known words or letters
• invite the children to trace over words or circle them
• write and illustrate a sentence that begins with “I can ...”
