Having a rep that is easily contactable and very happy to help and advise us has been invaluable. It has saved us hours in trawling through the internet and catalogues trying to find connecting resources or resources we could do this with. Thank you!

Invest in Results

'Published resources are still one of the most cost-effective ways of improving teaching and learning in schools'
– Education Publishers Council

Invest in Results
campaign, running from Autumn 2010, is inspired by a study released on 1 September showing that pupils in schools that spend more on professionally-published resources improve faster than those in schools that spend less.

Spending data from 13,536 primary schools and 3,832 secondary schools in England were collected in one of the most comprehensive studies to be conducted recently.  The study compared schools' spend on print and digital learning resources provided by professional educational publishers with pupils' performance in schools - and shows that schools that spend more than average on published resources are a third more likely to record above-average improvement in attainment than those who spend less than average.

EPC Director Graham Taylor said:  'We hear teachers' concerns about the expectation that they can resource lessons by downloading free stuff from the Internet.  This study shows clearly that pupils do better in schools that use professionally-produced learning resources.  Publishers invest millions every year at their own risk developing materials that are exactly right for the classroom and the demands of the curriculum.  This study demonstrates that pupils do better as a result.  Published resources are still one of the most cost-effective ways of improving teaching and learning in schools.'

The study was carried out by C3 Education on EPC's behalf.
